Cosmetic Surgery: Blepharoplasty (Eye Lid Lift Surgery)

Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic eyelid surgery. It is intended to improve the appearance of the upper eyelids and/or lower eyelids.

The Eye Lid Lift Surgery reshapes and reduces fatty bulges around the eyes.

Blepharoplasty is the third most popular cosmetic surgery procedure that is usually performed on both men and women.

Candidates for blepharoplasty should be healthy and should have realistic goals for improvement of the appearance of the eyes.

Before performing the eye lid lift surgery, the surgeon will evaluate the general health status of the patient. Smoking and patients with certain health conditions (dry eye syndrome, hypertension, hyperthyroidism or diabetes) may not be accepted to surgery.

The eye lid lift surgery lasts between one and three hours. The patients are asleep during a surgery, as general anesthesia or IV sedation is used.

Blepharoplasty recovery takes time. Two common symptoms of blepharoplasty recovery are bruising and swelling.

The final result can be seen in 1-2 months.
